May is very very chilly. It's 48 degrees at 11:30 am. Clouds, clouds, clouds, sun and wind.

In April we had a couple of warm days, and this little visitor.

 Bleeding hearts are blooming now with the daffodils.

 The grass is getting tall.

The bird feeder bandit is unsuccessful.

Summer

 It's 75 degrees with a breeze and mostly sunny skies at 12:15 pm.

        Our neighbor Totoro! He and his friends are making all the flowers and trees grow. I suspect they are making it rain too, because they are close allies with Slammy.

It's Alive, Part II

It's Alive

Many of the flowers are coming back to life, and the roses and trees are leafing out, though the snowberry is still bare and most of the herbs are dormant.

Hello March!

It's a snowy start to the month when spring begins.  These pictures look dark, but it's actually very bright out there, which makes my inner gardener wake up and think about digging in the dirt.

The gardens are not ready for planting.

But they will be soon!

It's 34 degrees, snowing and winds calm at 9:30 am.

It's 19 degrees and overcast at about 11:00 am.  Low of -3 last night.  Snow is expected tonight.

Snow snow everywhere

It's another snowy winter.  I thought maybe we would be living in Hawaii by now, but since we're still here, why not continue the blog?

The moose have been visiting us, and I put up some pictures on Lounging About.  The birds have also been here, and I'm feeding them sunflower seeds.

The temperatures have been fluctuating a lot, and the weather goes from pleasantly fresh and moist to uncomfortably icy and dry.  The trees sure look pretty when it's cold enough for the snow to stick to them though.  The crabapple tree was all bent over in this picture, like a weeping cherry, but it sprang back up miraculously when it thawed out.

It's 37 degrees and lightly drizzling at 11:00 am.

I'm all done!  It's been about a year and a half since I started gardenlog, to observe and record the North Idaho seasons, critters, plants and gardening adventures.  It's been great fun, and I've loved taking all the pictures.  But now it's time for something new.  Thank you for reading, and for your wonderful comments. 

Fall colors and patterns

This is one of those times when I realize that we aren't that clever, our best designs are just copies of things that exist in nature.
